I wrote a lyric essay for my substack called "Notes on the Niche Pastime of Thinking About Death" and instead of accompanying it with an amateurish work of pixel art I decided to accompany it with an even more amateurish GameBoy game.

You can read the essay here.

It's the first game I've ever made and therefore will be bad. I'm hoping it's bad enough to merit the odd giggle from the player. It should  also take about a minute to play so I guess that's a plus too.

It's a one room game where the player explores a post apocalyptic supermarket until they decide that they are ready to shuffle off this mortal coil.

If you don't fancy using the onscreen controls then the keyboard controls are the arrow keys (or WASD) for movement and Z to select or end dialogue (after clicking on the game).

Sprites and other stuff by me.
